First of all, I disagree about the disgustingness of the second half of the film and the specific scenes that, apparently, were meant in the first place. Such a description as “lesbian necrophilia with cannibalism and subsequent regurgitation of entrails and repeated consumption” seemed to me like a thermonuclear mixture of “The Green Elephant” and “Necromantic”. Everything in the film is very sleek and glamorous. I expected to see swimming in human entrails and other trash, but, fortunately, it didn’t work out.
The author scolded metaphors and allegories that can be guessed in 10 minutes. I would like to see a concrete example. In my opinion, everything is fine with them – they are simple and understandable to any attentive viewer. They do not appeal to the viewer’s deep erudition I’m not Wasserman to understand such jokes, and I primarily influence emotions with down-to-earth symbols.
By the way, I didn’t understand the whole plot twist with the fact that she’s not like everyone else and she has, according to Ruby, “it”. It’s simple here. She does not look like a prisoner of Buchenwald and her face is not just covered with skin from under which the skull is visible.
Well, the film is completely passable with a single-cell story and characters. No matter how much symbolism is poured into it, it cannot go beyond the story of unscrupulous modeling and envy. The author expresses the same thoughts first through some kind of allegory, and then bluntly. After all, he has absolutely nothing to say. It feels like initially there shouldn’t have been any dialogue at all, but just in case, the lines were copied from glamorous public pages and distributed to the heroes, so that even the “smartest” would understand the meaning of what was happening. You can cut scenes with symbols and dialogues separately, but the meaning will not be affected. The director will simply duplicate this story in different ways. By the way, it’s good that he can do this. I hope he will please us again, the main thing is not to let him near the script. "Drive" guarantees.
