Attack of the Dead. Review of Swarm the City: Zombie Evolved

Create and command zombie armies. A mixture of RTS and RPG.

The game is announced for the Windows platform.

Our hero was imprisoned thousands of millions of years ago. And finally, in 1986, the sarcophagus was dug up by some eccentric. We have to play for the awakened deity of the dead and restore our power in this world.

The gameplay is a combination of RTS and RPG.

There are four difficulties to overcome.

The essence of the game is to sequentially pass locations on the world map. There are quite a few of them and each one has conditions for completion and achievements, the fulfillment of which will give final rewards. Locations can be replayed to upgrade the main character and generals (for loot).

At first we only have our main character, for whom we play. His specificity is that he seems to be above the fray (he doesn’t run around the map) and casts his spells and influences his armies with passive enhancements. As you progress, new skills and opportunities open up (many, we’ll talk about this below).

Skills are cast throughout the map, something like global skills.

One way or another, but https://casinosnogamstop.co.uk/review/love-casino/ soon a number of zombies are under our command. They are controlled similarly (not quite canonically, but similar) to RTS. We select a squad and lead it where we need it, attack enemies, destroy buildings. You can control individual units or select all the zombies on the screen at once. Don’t forget to support your units with spells, for example, healing or rabies; if many are killed, resurrect them.

As you progress, we unlock special units – generals (there are four in total) of our armies. These are strong fighters who turn the tide on the battlefield and go on a rampage very effectively.

Enemies are worthy competition to our forces. There are (I’m not sure I’ve seen all of them) the following enemy types:

– Ordinary people. Either they run away or fight with their hands. Do not pose any particular threat.

– Security guards. The simplest fighters with the simplest weapons.

– Cultists. Simple units, but different in that they are given special rewards for defeating them. Can be identified by preachers.

– Serious fighters. They differ in the weapons they use and this determines their specialization. There are many types of such units.

– Various techniques. Turrets, combat vehicles, helicopters.

– Buildings. While not destroyed, can generate units or support enemies in a variety of ways.

– Large Boss Mechs. This is the final line of defense and they come out at the end of levels when all other enemies have already been defeated.

For completing levels we receive rewards and various loot. It’s worth looking into this in more detail, as it greatly affects the game.

The experience of the main character naturally increases. For him we increase stats that passively affect our zombies.

Skills are unlocked for completing levels; there are quite a lot of them and you won’t be able to use them all at once; there can be five of them on the quick access panel.

For every fifth level of the hero, a powerful passive power is unlocked.

Generals with zombies are also evolving. For completing and re-passing levels we receive special crystals. They are used to upgrade generals.

When defeating special opponents, they drop brains. If zombies eat them in a special upgrade window, they will also be able to use this special weapon. In addition, at levels when buildings are destroyed, our ordinary units vacuum up all sorts of rubbish and arm themselves with it (like minions in Overlord).
